What happened
On a flight from Quibdó-El Caraño Airport to Bogotá, a twin-engine aircraft, known as 'El Isleño', encountered severe weather while in the cruise phase of flight. At approximately 12:43 local time, the aircraft was traveling at an altitude of 11,500 feet when it collided with the slope of Mt San Nicolás.
Search efforts located the wreckage a few hours after the impact. The accident resulted in 16 fatalities, as there were no survivors among the 12 passengers and 4 crew members on board.
