Incident Overview
Following an uneventful flight from Manila, the crew began their approach to Catarman Airport. Weather conditions at the time were marginal, and the runway was wet due to rainfall. The aircraft landed on runway 04/22, which has a length of 1,350 metres. After touchdown, the aircraft was unable to stop within the remaining distance and overran the runway, coming to rest in an adjacent paddy field.
Occupant Safety and Aircraft Damage
All 38 occupants on board evacuated the aircraft safely. The aircraft itself sustained damage beyond economical repair. No injuries were reported.
Possible Contributory Factor
The investigation noted that aquaplaning may have been a factor in the overrun, given the wet runway conditions. However, no definitive cause has been stated.
