What happened
On the morning of 30 January 2019, an Air Tindi Ltd. flight, identified as TIN503, departed from Yellowknife Airport (CYZF) in the Northwest Territories. The aircraft, a Beechcraft King Air 200 with registration C-GTUC, was performing an instrument flight rules mission toward Whatì Airport (CEM3).
During the approach phase of the flight, while descending from an altitude of 12,000 feet, the aircraft experienced a loss of control. The plane subsequently struck the ground at an elevation of 544 feet, located roughly 21 nautical miles east-southeast of the destination airport. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft and 2 fatalities among the flight crew.
Following the accident, the aircraft's 406 MHz emergency locator transmitter sent a signal to the Canadian Mission Control Centre, which alerted the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton, Ontario. Emergency responders and search and rescue technicians reached the crash site approximately six hours after the event occurred.
