What happened
During an approach to Manaus-Eduardo Gomes Airport, the flight encountered challenging meteorological conditions characterized by intense rainfall and reduced visibility. As the aircraft progressed through the final phase of its approach, the crew did not maintain proper alignment with the runway centerline.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft was positioned to the right of the intended path. This deviation caused the right main landing gear to impact runway lighting equipment and an electrical box, resulting in a structural collapse of the gear. Following the impact, the aircraft slid several hundred meters along the airfield before coming to a complete stop.
Findings
- The primary factor in the incident was the failure to maintain alignment with the runway centerline during the final approach.
- Heavy precipitation and degraded visibility contributed to the difficulty of the landing sequence.
- All seven occupants on board were able to evacuate the aircraft without sustaining any injuries.
