What happened
During the landing phase at Santa Marta-Simón Bolívar Airport, the aircraft's left main landing gear suffered a collapse. This mechanical failure caused the plane to come to an abrupt halt on the runway surface. The impact and subsequent movement resulted in the aircraft being declared a total loss, as it sustained damage beyond repair.
There were no injuries reported among the occupants following the incident. The aircraft remained on the runway following the gear failure and did not deviate from the airport grounds.
Findings
Investigations into the event focused on the structural integrity of the landing gear assembly. The primary factor identified was the failure of the left main gear during the touchdown process. At this time, the specific underlying reason for why the component failed remains undetermined.
