What happened
During the final approach to runway 08 at Nzagi Airport, the aircraft descended below the required altitude. Approximately 100 meters before reaching the runway threshold, the right main landing gear made contact with an earth mound. This impact caused the right main gear to collapse immediately upon touchdown.
The aircraft subsequently slid and came to a stop with its belly partially resting on the ground. Despite the severity of the impact and the resulting damage, all 11 occupants were able to evacuate the wreckage without sustaining any injuries. The aircraft was subsequently declared a total loss.
Findings
At the time of the incident, the co-pilot was serving as the pilot-in-command. Environmental conditions included winds originating from 130 degrees at a speed of 12 to 15 knots. The primary factor in the accident was the low approach altitude which led to the collision with the terrain feature short of the runway.
