What happened
On 25 October 2021, a single-engine aircraft was conducting an unscheduled cargo mission from Moses Kilangin Airport in Timika to Ilaga Airport in the Puncak district of Papua, Indonesia. The flight was transporting 2,352 lbs of cargo and was operated by a crew consisting of two pilots.
During the approach to Runway 25 at Ilaga, visibility was impacted by ground fog covering part of the short final area. Prior to the accident, two other aircraft had already performed go-around maneuvers due to these conditions. At approximately 0725 local time, the aircraft, registration PK-SNN, attempted its approach but struck an embankment located roughly 15 meters before the runway threshold. Following the impact, the plane came to a rest approximately 90 meters from the start of the runway. The accident resulted in one fatality and one injury among the crew.
