What happened
During a morning training mission, an aircraft operated by Morningstar Air Express departed from Sault Sainte Marie Airport in southern Ontario. After takeoff, the pilot ceased all radio communication with air traffic control and the home base. The flight proceeded northward for approximately 1,200 km before the aircraft went down in Hudson Bay, located roughly 500 km east of Churchill, Manitoba.
Findings
Following the impact, the aircraft was completely destroyed. The incident resulted in one fatality, consisting of the pilot. The specific reasons for the loss of radio contact and the subsequent crash remain unidentified.
