What happened
A private flight departing from Perpignan-La Llabanère Airport for Orléans resulted in an accident during the landing phase. The twin engine airplane was operated as a private flight with two people on board, consisting of the pilot and one passenger.
While performing the final approach to Orléans-Loiret Airport, the aircraft experienced a loss of power in the left engine. In an effort to manage the emergency, the pilot attempted to execute an emergency landing. During this maneuver, the aircraft struck trees and came to rest in a wooded area situated approximately 3 km before reaching runway 23. Following the impact, the aircraft caught fire.
Findings
- The aircraft was totally destroyed due to a fire that broke out after the crash.
- Despite the intensity of the post-crash fire, zero fatalities and zero injuries were reported, as both occupants successfully escaped the wreckage.
