What happened
While performing a flight from Gabor andone to Maun, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure involving the left engine. Specifically, the engine suffered an oil leak, characterized by a drop in oil pressure accompanied by a rise in engine temperature. In response to the failure, the pilot deactivated the left engine and feathered the propeller.
Due to the loss of power, the aircraft was unable to sustain a safe flying altitude. The pilot attempted an emergency landing, but the aircraft ultimately crashed in a forested region situated approximately 128 km southwest of Pandamatenga. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. All five occupants sustained injuries during the accident.
Findings
- The primary mechanical issue was an oil leak in the left engine.
- The failure was marked by a simultaneous decrease in oil pressure and an increase in operating temperature.
