What happened
Earlier in the day, an aircraft departed from La Carlota-General Francisco de Miranda to conduct an inspection mission on behalf of the Venezuelan Ministry of Agriculture and Farming. During the flight, which took place along the border between Colombia and Venezuela, the crew encountered an unforeseen emergency that necessitated an urgent attempt at an emergency landing.
During this maneuver, the aircraft crashed into a mountainous area in the vicinity of Machiques. The impact caused the plane to catch fire upon coming to rest. While all three passengers survived the accident without injuries, both members of the flight crew were killed in the crash.
