What happened
The incident occurred during a routine local training flight departing from Camp Borden. As the crew executed the landing phase of the sortie, the aircraft lost control on the runway. This loss of control caused the plane to collide with a stationary Royal Canadian Air Force Fairchild 51 that was parked nearby. The impact resulted in significant structural damage to both airframes, rendering them beyond repair. Both individuals aboard the training aircraft sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
Findings
The primary contributing factor identified in this event was the loss of control during the landing approach. This failure to maintain stability led directly to the collision with the parked aircraft, resulting in the destruction of both planes and injury to the crew members.
