2010 Cessna 150 accident in San Pablo de Chila

Flight and Accident Sequence On April 7, 2010, a Cessna 150 was conducting a visual flight rules (VFR) cross-country training flight between Santo Domingo and Quevedo. The aircraft departed at 19:45 UTC, initially heading toward El Carmen. After overflying El Carmen, the crew determined that weather conditions along the route were unfavorable for continued visual flight. The pilot instructor decided to return to the SILOK area, located northwest of Santo Domingo airport, to continue the student pilot's training. During the return, while crossing El Carmen, the aircraft's engine suffered a power loss that the crew could not resolve. The pilot instructor commanded an emergency landing. During the landing, the nose landing gear broke, and the aircraft overturned, coming to rest inverted 18 meters ahead of the point where the wheels first made contact.
