What happened
On April 7, 2010, a Cessna 150, registration 001404 A, was conducting a flight training mission between Santo Domingo and Quevedo. The crew, consisting of a flight instructor and a student pilot, initially departed toward El Carmen but decided to return to the SILOK landing area near Santo Domingo due to deteriorating weather conditions.
During the return flight, the aircraft experienced a sudden loss of engine power. The crew attempted to manage the situation, but as RPMs continued to drop, they were forced to perform an emergency landing in a grassy field. During the landing sequence, the nose gear collapsed, causing the aircraft to strike the ground and subsequently capsize, coming to rest inverted approximately 18 meters from the initial point of impact.
The two crew members sustained minor injuries during the event. The aircraft suffered significant damage, including a broken nose gear, propeller deformation, fuselage fractures, and structural damage to the engine mount and wings.
