What happened
During the final approach to Matsu Nangan Airport, a twin-engine aircraft collided with the summit of Jade Hill. The impact occurred approximately one kilometer before the runway, causing the airframe to disintegrate upon hitting the terrain. At the time of the accident, the area was experiencing rain, which had limited visibility to six kilometers.
Reports indicate that the crew was in the process of executing a go-around maneuver when the collision took place. The accident resulted in 16 fatalities and one serious injury. While one passenger survived the initial impact, the individual succumbed to their injuries several hours after the crash.
