What happened
Following departure from Tel Aviv-Sde Dov Airport, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure involving its left engine. In response to the loss of power, the pilot attempted to perform a return to the airfield. However, the situation necessitated an emergency procedure that led to the aircraft being ditched in the water off the coast.
There was only one person on board during the flight. The pilot was successfully rescued from the wreckage following the incident. While the occupant survived, the aircraft was destroyed in the accident.
Findings
Investigations into the event determined that the primary factor leading to the ditching was the failure of the left engine immediately after takeoff. The specific underlying reason for this engine malfunction remains undetermined.
