What happened
On a charter mission traveling from Popayán to Cali, an aircraft owned by the Colombian Air Force and operated by the Colombian Presidency encountered mechanical difficulties. The flight was transporting the Director of the Inter-American Development Bank along with several staff members.
Shortly after departing from Popayán Airport, the crew identified issues developing within the engine. In response to the malfunction, the flight crew initiated a descent to lower their altitude in an attempt to perform an emergency landing. The aircraft subsequently crash landed in a field situated approximately two kilometers from Piendamably, which is roughly 22 kilometers northeast of Popayán.
Despite the impact, all 12 occupants were able to exit the wreckage without sustaining any injuries. However, the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
