Cargo Aircraft Collision with Factory Chimney Near Medellín (HK-504)

Departure and Emergency Return The aircraft departed Medellín-Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport at 0540 local time on a cargo flight to Cartagena. Shortly after takeoff, the crew encountered an unexpected situation and obtained permission to return to the airport for an emergency landing. ## Collision and Crash While approaching the airfield from the northwest, the aircraft struck the chimney of the Tejícondor factory, located in the Belén suburb. The airplane then stalled and crashed, resulting in a large explosion. ## Casualties Both crew members were killed in the accident, along with one person on the ground.
