What happened
During a cargo operation traveling from San Felipe, Guainía, to Villavicencio, an aircraft experienced the failure of one of its engines. The flight, which was transporting a load of straw along with three passengers and three crew members, was diverted to Barranco Minas Airport following the mechanical issue.
Upon landing on runway 27, the aircraft failed to decelerate sufficiently before the end of the runway. The plane overran the landing strip and crashed into the Río Guaviare. The accident resulted in four fatalities and four survivors. While four individuals were successfully rescued from the wreckage, the bodies of the flight engineer and the copilot were lost in the river.
