Aircraft Disintegration Near La Montañita (HK-2581)

Incident Overview A twin-engine aircraft departed Orito at 0740 local time on a cargo flight to Villavicencio-La Vanguardia Airport. The aircraft was carrying two passengers and three crew members, for a total of five occupants on board. ## Flight Progression Nine minutes after takeoff, the crew reported to air traffic control that they were passing 7,500 feet while flying in poor weather conditions. The crew was subsequently cleared to climb to 11,500 feet. One minute after this communication, radar contact with the aircraft was lost. ## Crash and Casualties The aircraft disintegrated in the air and crashed in a field near La Montañita. All five occupants were killed in the accident. ## Investigation Findings The official investigation was unable to determine the exact cause of the accident.
