What happened
Approximately one hour after departing from Manaus-Ponta Pelacy Airport, the pilot notified air traffic control regarding a malfunction in the primary hydraulic system. Despite this mechanical issue, the flight proceeded to its destination at Belém-Val de Cans Airport, where the crew successfully executed a standard landing.
However, during the landing roll, the application of reverse thrust led to a loss of directional control. The aircraft drifted toward the right side of the runway and exited the paved surface. As the plane moved onto soft terrain, the landing gear was torn from the airframe, causing the vessel to come to a stop in a nearby ravine. There were no injuries reported among those on board, though the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
Investigations determined that a failure within the primary hydraulic system during the flight resulted in a significant hydraulic leak. This malfunction left the braking and reverse thrust systems only partially functional, which contributed to the inability to maintain the runway centerline during the landing phase.
