What happened
While performing a series of touch-and-go maneuvers during a training mission at Lagoa Santa AFB, an aircraft experienced a loss of control during the takeoff phase. As the pilot-in-command attempted to initiate rotation by pulling back on the control column, the aircraft failed to respond to the input. This lack of responsiveness caused the plane to veer toward the right side of the runway.
During the excursion, the aircraft struck an embankment, which resulted in the separation of the undercarriage. The plane continued to slide for several dozen meters across the terrain before eventually coming to a stop in a nearby grassy area. The impact caused the aircraft to be damaged beyond repair.
Findings
- All three occupants of the aircraft managed to exit the wreckage uninjured.
- The primary issue identified during the takeoff roll was that the aircraft did not respond to the pilot's rotation input.
