Khartoum-Haj Yusuf Airport Training Flight Accident (ST-SSD)

Incident Overview and Context The accident occurred while the crew was conducting a local training flight at Khartoum-Haj Yusuf Airport. The flight had proceeded normally through several successful touch-and-go landings on runway 18. The incident arose during a subsequent takeoff attempt when the captain experienced mechanical difficulties in retracting the flaps from a 40-degree position to 16.5 degrees. ## Emergency Response and Outcome Due to the inability to adjust the flaps to the required configuration, the captain elected to reject the takeoff and initiated an emergency braking maneuver. The aircraft subsequently skidded on the runway surface, overran the available runway length, and lost its right main landing gear. The aircraft came to a final rest after colliding with the Instrument Landing System (ILS) antenna associated with runway 36. ## Casualties and Damage Assessment Both pilots escaped the incident without sustaining any injuries. The aircraft sustained extensive damage during the overrun and collision, resulting in it being declared damaged beyond repair.
