What happened
During the initial climb phase following departure from Cotabato City Airport, a twin engine aircraft experienced a sudden loss of altitude. The descent led to the aircraft impacting a residential zone located in the vicinity of the airfield. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the airframe.
There were 8 fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft. Additionally, the crash caused the death of one person on the ground.
Findings
Preliminary reports suggest that the accident was precipitated by an engine failure occurring shortly after the aircraft reached rotation speed.
