What happened
During an on-demand cargo operation, an aircraft was performing a delivery flight from Lokichoga to the Foxtrot Airstrip. The mission involved transporting essential supplies intended for SPLA troops. Upon touchdown at the destination, the aircraft experienced a mechanical malfunction involving the left thrust reverser. This failure resulted in an asymmetrical thrust condition, causing the plane to veer toward the right side of the runway.
The aircraft eventually came to a halt after the excursion. While the airframe sustained damage that was classified as beyond repair, there were no casualties reported. Both the pilot and the crew managed to exit the aircraft without any injuries.
Findings
- The primary factor in the loss of directional control was the failure of the left thrust reverser, which created an imbalance in engine power during the landing roll.
