What happened
On April 23, 2024, at 13:36 UTC, an Embraer ERJ190 (registration LV-CEV) operating flight AR 1794 was performing a scheduled commercial service from Aeropuerto Internacional My. D. C. E. Krause to Aeropuerto Internacional General D. Martín Miguel de Güemes in Salta. While the aircraft was in the cruise phase of flight, the crew experienced a loss of cabin pressure. In response to the depressurization, the flight crew declared an emergency and initiated a descent to divert the aircraft to its destination aerodrome.
The flight, which was scheduled to last approximately one hour and 55 minutes, proceeded to land at Salta under visual meteorological conditions. There were no injuries reported among the 5 crew members or the 85 passengers on board, and the aircraft sustained no damage during the event.
The investigation
The preliminary investigation by the JST focused on the technical circumstances surrounding the depressurization event during the en-route phase of the flight. The inquiry examined the aircraft's systems and the sequence of actions taken by the crew following the pressure loss.
