What happened
On June 7, 2022, a Learjet 35, registration LV-IYQ, was performing a non-scheduled commercial flight from Santa Rosa to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires. During the landing phase of the operation, the aircraft made abnormal contact with the runway surface. As the aircraft touched down, it experienced a sudden tilt, which caused the right wing tip's fuel tank to scrape against the asphalt.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the circumstances surrounding the runway contact and the subsequent condition of the aircraft. Investigators examined the mechanical state of the Learjet 35 and the operational sequence of the landing. The inspection revealed that the incident resulted in minor damage to the aircraft's structure, specifically affecting the wing tip area.
Findings
- The primary cause of the incident was the unusual aircraft attitude at the moment of touchdown, which led to the wing tip making contact with the pavement.
- There were no injuries reported among the two crew members or the four passengers on board.
- The incident was classified as a runway excursion/contact event involving the aircraft's wing structure.
