What happened
The aircraft had completed an uneventful flight from Narvik and was approaching Hommelvik Bay, located east of Trondheim, for a landing on the sea. Immediately after touching down, the seaplane collided with a sand dune. This impact forced the aircraft to lift off again unexpectedly. It climbed to an altitude of approximately 4 to 5 metres before stalling and plunging back into the water.
Upon impact with the surface, the aircraft lost both of its floats and subsequently sank. The incident resulted in three fatalities among the passengers. Six other occupants were successfully rescued from the water. The airplane was declared a total loss.
