What happened
On a night-time charter flight from Rosario-Islas Malvinas Airport to Buenos Aires, an aircraft carrying two crew members and two passengers experienced a runway excursion. During the approach to Buenos Aires-Aeroparque-Jorge Newbury Airport, the flight encountered adverse meteorological conditions, including heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorm activity.
The aircraft touched down approximately 200 metres beyond the threshold of runway 13. Following the landing, the crew attempted to execute braking procedures. After traveling roughly 500 metres along the runway, the aircraft drifted to the left and exited the paved surface. The movement continued onto a grassy area where the aircraft rolled, subsequently striking a concrete taxiway. This impact caused the separation of both main landing gear. The aircraft eventually stopped 860 metres from the runway threshold. While the aircraft sustained damage beyond repair, all four occupants managed to evacuate the wreckage without injury.
Findings
- The aircraft encountered severe weather conditions including thunderstorms and heavy rain during the approach.
- The landing occurred significantly past the runway threshold.
- The excursion was characterized by a lateral deviation from the runway centerline leading to a loss of control on the ground.
