What happened
On the date of the accident, an aircraft was conducting an ambulance flight, traveling from Comodoro Rivadavia to Río Grande. After completing its mission, the plane was attempting to return to its base located in San Fernando. During the departure from Runway 26 at the Río Grande-Gobernador Ramón Trejo Noel Airport, the aircraft entered its initial climb phase.
While ascending, the plane experienced a left-side roll. Although the aircraft briefly regained stability, a second roll to the left occurred, causing the plane to lose lift. The aircraft subsequently crashed approximately 1,870 meters beyond the end of the runway and 300 meters to the left of the runway centerline. The impact and a subsequent fire destroyed the aircraft. There were four fatalities among the occupants, which included the pilot, the copilot, a doctor, and a nurse.
Findings
- The aircraft experienced a loss of lift following a series of rolling motions during the climb.
- The wreckage was located significantly past the runway threshold and offset from the runway centerline.
