What happened
During a training mission departing from Tehran-Mehrabad Airport, a four-engine Hercules aircraft experienced a significant deviation during its takeoff from runway 29R. While attempting to climb, the aircraft veered to the right, leading to a direct collision with an Airbus A300B2-203 that was being moved via tow.
Upon impact, both aircraft were consumed by an immediate and intense post-crash fire, which resulted in the total destruction of both airframes. The incident resulted in nine fatalities in total. The crew of the training flight, consisting of six members, all perished in the accident. Additionally, three individuals who were on board the stationary Airbus were killed.
