What happened
During a search and rescue mission initiated from Trenton, a four-engine aircraft went down in a forested region approximately 13 km west of Chapais. The flight was specifically tasked with locating a helicopter that had previously been reported missing. While operating at a low altitude, the plane impacted the terrain in the wooded area.
The accident resulted in eight fatalities among the crew members on board. Additionally, two other individuals sustained serious injuries during the impact. All personnel on the aircraft were part of the mission crew dispatched to assist in the ongoing search efforts.
