On January 10, 2020, an Airbus A321-231, operated by OOO "Severny Veter", was performing a charter flight from Moscow (Sheremetyevo) to Antalya, Turkey. The aircraft, registration VQ-BRS, was operating without passengers or cargo at the time of the event.
During the approach phase in visual meteorological conditions, the aircraft experienced a shallow flare, maintaining a landing attitude at a significant altitude without reducing the vertical descent rate. While attempting to correct deviations, the pilot in command moved the control column fully to the away position. This action caused an intense pitch rotation, leading to a dive and a hard landing that resulted in a forward impact on the nose landing gear.
The aircraft came to rest 190 meters from the entrance threshold of runway 36C at Antalya Airport. There were no injuries or fatalities reported following the incident.
Prior to the flight, the crew had completed required medical examinations and pre-flight briefings. The aircraft's takeoff weight was 59,200 kg with a center of gravity of 19.66% MAC, both within specified limits.
