On August 29, 2022, an Mi-8AMT helicopter, registration RA-22833, operated by JSC AP "Yeltsovka," was performing cargo transport duties for LLC "Gorizont" in the Khanty-Mansiysky District. The aircraft had been relocated to the Untageyskoe field area the previous day to support operations between various exploratory wells and production facilities.
The crew, which included the pilot-in-command and two aircraft technicians, began flight preparations around 03:00 at the R-6 site. Following a pre-flight medical examination conducted by the pilot-in-command and a review of weather information, the crew commenced their flight task at 04:00.
During the flight, the pilot-in-command attempted an aggressive reduction in airspeed. This maneuver resulted in an increased vertical descent rate, causing the aircraft to enter a vortex ring state. Due to insufficient altitude, the pilot was unable to recover the helicopter from the descent.
The aircraft subsequently collided with trees before striking the ground in the area of the "Rotor" landing site. There were no fatalities or injuries reported in the incident.
