On February 12, 2018, a Mi-8T helicopter, registration RA-22330, was conducting a series of scheduled flights in the Tomsk region. Following the completion of eight routine flights, the crew received a request to provide medical assistance by transporting a patient, a paramedic, and a police officer from the settlement of Prokhorkino to Alexandrovskoye.
The flight route was planned to proceed from the Koltogorsky Pier-9 km landing site to Oktyabrskoye, then to Alexandrovskoye, before returning to the original pier. During the leg from Oktyabrskoye to the Alexandrovskoye landing site, the aircraft was carrying the patient along with the two medical and law enforcement personnel.
While in flight, the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure that resulted in a collision with the ground. The accident resulted in two fatalities.
Prior to the flight, the crew had completed a pre-flight medical examination in Strezhevoy and reported no maintenance concerns regarding the aircraft. The weather forecast received by the crew earlier that day did not preclude the execution of the flight operations.
