Flight Planning
On 10 March 2015, the pilot-in-command (PIC), acting on a power of attorney from LLC "ROSINSTALAVIA-N" dated 29 December 2014, planned a flight in the vicinity of the Barlak landing site. The flight was intended for helicopter piloting technique practice, using a flight plan from 10 March 2014 and permission from the Novosibirsk Zonal Center of the Unified Air Traffic Management System. According to the PIC, after obtaining a weather forecast from the Meteocenter Asia website and conducting his own pre-flight preparation, he decided to proceed with the flight.
Takeoff and Maneuver
Around 08:16, the PIC took off from the Barlak site. After climbing to 200 meters, he began a left turn with a 15-degree bank. During the turn, the helicopter entered a precipitation zone. The windshield became clouded, and vibrations developed. The PIC interpreted these signs as entry into icing conditions.
Precautionary Landing
Due to the vibrations, the PIC decided to abort the flight and land at a site selected from the air to inspect the aircraft. The approach was conducted normally. After touchdown on a snow-covered surface, while lowering the collective pitch lever, the helicopter rolled over onto its right side.
Aftermath
The PIC shut down the engine, de-energized the helicopter, and evacuated himself. He was uninjured. The helicopter sustained significant damage. No fire occurred.
