On September 16, 2024, a Robinson R66 helicopter, registration RA-07424, was involved in a fatal accident in the Zeysky District of the Amur region, Russia. The aircraft was operated by OOO 'Khergu' under a contract for the gratuitous use of the helicopter by LLC 'Antracit', a gold mining company.
The flight was intended to survey territory near the village of Sardangro. Prior to the accident, the pilot-in-command had conducted a flight on September 15, 2024, lasting 1 hour and 38 minutes. On the day of the accident, the pilot performed pre-flight maintenance.
Investigations revealed that the flight was planned for Class G airspace, but no notification was submitted to air traffic control authorities, which is a violation of the Federal Airspace Rules of the Russian Federation. Additionally, the pilot did not possess a power of attorney required for the operation of the aircraft under Federal Aviation Regulations.
The accident resulted in three fatalities. The flight occurred during twilight conditions, approximately five minutes before darkness, under low cloud cover of 200 meters.
