What happened
During a military airshow held at Asunción-Presidente Stroessman Airport, a Porter aircraft was performing a flight demonstration. Shortly after departing the runway, the single-engine plane lost its climb trajectory and entered a stall. The aircraft subsequently crashed into the apron area, where it ignited upon impact.
During the accident sequence, the burning wreckage struck a parked Convair CV-240, which was operated by Lineas Aéreas Paraguayas and registered ZP-CDN. The collision caused significant damage to both aircraft. The Porter was completely destroyed in the incident, resulting in two fatalities among its occupants, including the pilot. The Convair CV-240 sustained heavy damage and was later determined to be a total loss.
