Accident
On the day of the accident, a single-engine airplane was participating in a military airshow at Asunción-Presidente Stroessner Airport. The aircraft was performing a demonstration flight when, shortly after liftoff, it deviated from the climb path. It then stalled and crashed in flames on the apron. The ensuing wreckage collided with a parked Lineas Aéreas Paraguayas Convair CV-240, registered ZP-CDN.
Aircraft and Occupants
The Porter airplane was totally destroyed in the accident. Two of its occupants, including the pilot, were killed. The pilot was identified as Ernesto Vicnoli. The passengers on board included General Andrés Rodríguez y Adrián Jara, Doctor Luis Migone, and Lieutenant Juan Félix León. The final passenger, Lt Juan Félix León, also perished. The Convair CV-240 was partially destroyed and later deemed damaged beyond repair. No other injuries were reported.
