What happened
A flight originating from Jersey Island, destined for Allendorf-Eder Airport, ended in a fatal accident in France. The aircraft, a single-engine airplane owned by a German-based company, was traveling at cruising altitude over eastern Paris when it began an uncontrolled descent. The plane eventually struck a colza field situated in Thury-en-Valois. The impact of the crash resulted in the total destruction of the airframe, though no post-crash fire was reported. There were six fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft.
Findings
At the time of the accident, the aircraft was operating in severe weather conditions characterized by thunderstorm activity. The presence of intense meteorological instability and poor visibility during the cruise phase of the flight were noted as significant factors during the period the aircraft entered its descent.
