A flight involving an aircraft on a ferry mission crashed in a wooded area near Shurma, resulting in three fatalities.

What happened

Following the completion of agricultural spraying tasks, a crew was performing a ferry flight from Malmyzh to Kirov. During this journey, the aircraft made a scheduled stop at Kaksinvai. At 17:15 local time, the aircraft departed Kaksin vai for the second leg of the trip.

While flying at an extremely low altitude, the pilot attempted a dangerous maneuver. This action caused the aircraft to collide with trees in a forested region situated approximately 15 km east of Shurma. The impact caused the aircraft to burst into flames upon hitting the ground.

All three people on board—the two pilots and one passenger, who was an aircraft mechanic seated in the co-pilot's position—were killed in the accident.

Findings

Investigations into the crash revealed that the crew members were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The combination of intoxication and an unsafe low-altitude maneuver led to the collision with the treeline.

Probable cause

The crash was caused by the crew performing a dangerous maneuver at low altitude while intoxicated.
