What happened
During the final approach to Nizhneangarsk Airport, the flight crew encountered heavy cloud cover that significantly reduced visibility. As the aircraft descended to an altitude of approximately 150 metres, the crew lost visual reference with the ground. The plane subsequently collided with treetops and crashed into a forested region situated roughly 4 km from the runway threshold.
A post-crash fire broke out upon impact, leading to the total destruction of the airframe. Of the seven people on board, five fatalities were recorded, while two passengers sustained serious injuries during the accident.
Findings
Official investigations determined that the crash resulted from the crew's failure to adhere to established flight operation protocols defined by ULP. The investigation concluded that the pilots violated published procedures during the approach. Notably, investigators ruled out weather conditions and air traffic control instructions as contributing factors to the impact.
