Accident Overview
A single-engine aircraft conducting a military training exercise crashed during its approach to Aranchi Airport. The aircraft was carrying 2 pilots and 13 soldiers, who were paratroopers from the Special Forces, for a routine local paratroop flight. Shortly after takeoff, the crew decided to return to Aranchi Airport due to deteriorating weather conditions. On final approach, the crew encountered local patches of fog. In reduced visibility, the aircraft descended too low and impacted the ground a few hundred metres short of the runway. The aircraft was destroyed and all 15 occupants were killed.
