What happened
An aircraft disappeared in an area near Cuchilla La Marimonda under undetermined circumstances. Following a search, the wreckage was located in a mountainous terrain on February 12. The impact of the crash, followed by a fire, resulted in the total destruction of the airframe.
At the time of the accident, the pilot was the only person on board the aircraft. The pilot was killed in the accident. During the recovery of the debris, authorities discovered 600 kilograms of cocaine within the wreckage.
Findings
Investigation of the site confirmed that the aircraft was destroyed by impact forces and a subsequent post-crash fire. The specific circumstances leading to the initial loss of control remain unknown.
