What happened
Shortly before 07:00 local time, a Rockwell Sabreliner 75A (NA-265-80 version) departed from Celaya-Capitán Rogelio Castillo Airport. The aircraft was operating without an established flight plan, and the total number of persons on board remained unconfirmed. The flight was intended for a short trip to Santiago de Querétaro.
At approximately 07:31 local time, the crew established contact with the destination airport and indicated their intention to land within seven minutes. Upon touchdown on runway 27, air traffic controllers provided instructions for the aircraft to exit the runway via a taxiway to proceed to the apron. However, the aircraft failed to follow the taxiway, continuing down the runway for approximately 800 metres before veering off the paved surface. The aircraft subsequently struck a rocky wall, resulting in the loss of its nose landing gear before coming to a final stop.
Following the excursion, the occupants of the aircraft vacated the plane and disappeared from the area before emergency responders could reach the site. There were no fatalities or injuries reported among the crew or passengers, as the individuals had already left the scene.
Findings
Preliminary investigations suggest the flight was unauthorized. It is believed that the aircraft was stolen from the Celaya Airport prior to the incident.
