What happened
On May 6, 2022, at approximately 19:48, a Cirrus SR22, registration N985EK, was performing a private flight under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). The aircraft had departed from Bielefeld (EDLI) and was en route to Speck-Feelytorf (LSZK). Upon arrival at the destination, the aircraft experienced a loss of control while on the ground, which resulted in the aircraft overrunning the end of the runway.
The investigation
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (SUST) conducted an inquiry into the incident. The investigation focused on the sequence of events leading to the loss of directional control during the landing roll and the subsequent excursion beyond the runway threshold. There were no injuries to the pilot or any third parties, and the aircraft sustained no damage during the event.
