What happened
During an approach to Jaipur-Sanganer Airport, the flight crew encountered severe weather characterized by intense rainfall. The initial descent was marked by low visibility, prompting the captain to execute a go-around. A subsequent attempt to land was also aborted, resulting in a second go-around procedure.
On the third landing attempt, the pilot-in-command touched down approximately 1,800 feet beyond the runway threshold. Because of the wet surface conditions and the extended touchdown point, the aircraft was unable to decelerate within the available runway length. This led to a runway overrun where the left main gear was lost. Despite the significant impact, all 27 occupants managed to evacuate the aircraft without any injuries. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
Investigations into the incident identified that the primary contributing factor was an incorrect approach configuration during the final landing attempt.
