What happened
During the landing phase of the flight, the crew failed to properly configure the aircraft for its arrival. This error led to the aircraft type touching down on the runway at a speed that was too high and in a nose-down pitch.
Immediately after contact with the runway surface, the plane experienced three distinct bounces. Following these impacts, the aircraft drifted off the side of the runway before finally coming to a stop. Although the incident resulted in the total loss of the airframe, all 30 occupants were able to evacuate the scene without sustaining any injuries.
Findings
Investigations into the event determined that the primary factor was an incorrect approach configuration maintained by the flight crew during the final stages of the landing sequence.
