Air Arabia-led Saudi budget carrier receives operating certificate
Saudi Arabia's aviation regulator has granted an air operator certificate to a new low-cost carrier led by Air Arabia, clearing it to begin flights from Dammam.
Air Arabia is leading a new low-cost carrier that has won approval to begin flying in Saudi Arabia. The country's aviation authority, Gaca, awarded the consortium an air operator certificate.
The airline will be based at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and plans to serve 24 domestic and 57 international destinations.
By 2030 it aims to carry around ten million passengers a year and create more than 2,400 direct jobs. A consortium made up of the Air Arabia Group, Nesma Group and KunN Holding won the right to build the airline in July 2025. The new company is majority Saudi-owned.
