Air Canada outlines largest intercontinental expansion for summer 2027
Air Canada will add seven international routes and five new destinations in summer 2027, with expanded service across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Air Canada will add seven international routes and five new destinations in summer 2027 as part of its largest-ever intercontinental expansion. The carrier will increase international seat capacity by more than 8% compared with summer 2026, reaching up to 169,000 weekly seats to over 85 destinations outside Canada.\n\nThe expansion includes year-round service from Toronto to Guatemala City and restored daytime Toronto–London Heathrow flights. Toronto–Shanghai will increase to daily, and Montréal services to Tenerife, Lima and Guatemala City will also become year-round.\n\nThe new routes rely partly on the incoming A321XLR fleet, which will feature a two-cabin layout with lie-flat Signature Class seats. The aircraft will operate new services to Oslo, Shannon and Basel.\n\nAir Canada expects its broader growth strategy to create more than 1,500 direct jobs by 2028. Tickets are on sale now, though schedules may change and Guangzhou remains subject to government approval.
