Air Transat A321neo returns to Paris after technical issue

An Air Transat flight from Paris to Toronto turned back to Charles de Gaulle Airport on Thursday afternoon after the crew identified a technical malfunction over the Atlantic. Flight TS189, operated by an Airbus A321neo registered C-GOIK, departed Paris at 1:05 p.m. local time, about an hour behind schedule.

The aircraft climbed to 30,000 feet initially and later to 32,000 feet south of Ireland. About two hours into the flight, the pilots decided to turn around instead of continuing across the ocean. On the return leg, they descended to 23,000 feet to burn off fuel and reduce weight for landing. The aircraft touched down on runway 27L at approximately 6:00 p.m. local time. Airline representatives were on hand to assess the issue and assist passengers with rebooking.
