Gatwick Closed Briefly After Boeing 787 Aborts Takeoff

London Gatwick Airport's main runway was temporarily closed on September 4 after a Norse Atlantic Airways Boeing 787-9 aborted its takeoff for New York JFK. Flight Z0701 rejected the takeoff roll on runway 26L at about 120 knots due to a problem with the nose gear, according to The Aviation Herald. There were no injuries.

Emergency vehicles responded after the aircraft, registration G-CKOF, came to a stop near the end of the runway. The jet later taxied to a remote stand. A ground stop was implemented, and several incoming EasyJet flights diverted to London Luton and London Stansted.

Flight operations resumed on runway 26L after an inspection and the aircraft was moved. The airport had advised passengers to check with their airlines as knock-on delays were expected.
